For more than 20 years, JMG was a special education teacher and administrator. His tireless efforts to see his students strive in their formal classroom education as well as in their daily lives was a driving force to motivating the hundreds of students that passed through his classroom and through the walls of Springfield High.

Applications for the 2025 Scholarship are currently being accepted. The deadline for applications for the current year is April 15, 2025. Applications must be postmarked no later than that date for consideration. Applications submitted online must be received no later than midnight (EST) April 15, 2025.

Scholarship Info

The intended purpose of the scholarship is to assist special needs students at Springfield High School in furthering their academic goals in post-secondary educational institutions (4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, technical school, etc.) after graduation. In the absence, of qualified special needs applicants the scholarship is open to all graduating seniors of Springfield High School.

Jerry M. Greene was a special education teacher and school administrator for over 20 years.

He believed that education transcended the classroom and that community involvement, social organizations, athletics and participation in other extracurricular activities could give students the keys to future successes.


He believed that the balance students demonstrated between classroom achievement, purpose, community involvement, social activism and over-coming obstacles was indicative of that student's potential.
